The Surgical Staff Nurse uses the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate highest quality nursing care. As a patient advocate, he/she coordinates the care of the patient through collaboration and appropriate delegation. The Nurse provides age-specific care and teaching to selected patient population(s). He/she monitors and recognizes changes in physiologic status, takes appropriate action based on assessment, and evaluates and documents finding and patient response. Interacts frequently with all patient service departments; utilizes interdisciplinary input to plan, implement and evaluate care. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Supports the organization vision and mission. Utilizes knowledge of patient''s age and cultural diversity into the provision of patient care. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care. Other duties as assigned.
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Certifications:
Current state Registered Nurse license; or eligible for immediate state license.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) Certification.
Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
Current PALS certification preferred
Experience:
Two (2) years of recent Surgical Services Nursing experience preferred.
Able to meet physical and sensory requirements of job.
Able to successfully complete orientation of job performance.
Able to meet health standards for hospital employment.
Prior acute-care experience preferred, new graduates will not be considered.
Must be highly motivated and committed to a quality of care that emphasizes the patient first.Emergency Services (ED, ER)
